Voice Of The Voiceless compilation and layout

Here we have the Voice of the Voiceless compilation that was released in 1991 by Smorgasbord Records and later released on CD by Doghouse Records. While nowadays, compilations seem to be a thing of the past, this was a good one when it came out (no I didnt get it when it came out). Great lineup of bands including Split Lip, Endpoint, Youth of Today, Shelter, Worlds Collide, and more singing songs about vegetarianism and veganism. Also notable that Rob R. Rock is featured on here...he was a straight edge rapper from North Carolina. There was a whole big story about him but I don't remember the details so hopefully someone will fill in the holes. I also included scans of the layout. Enjoy

  3. Love this comp. They definitely don't make comps anymore like they used to.

I love that Rob R Rock track, and I can enjoy his hiphop Hardcore Reality 12" EP and Naked Angels. Most of the stuff he did since tho (Kaptain Nemo, Remote Control Frequencies) is atrocious. Seems like a weird-ass dude, hahaha... Still have a soft spot for him tho.

  4. This originally was released on vinyl by Smorgasbord Records and only later was it released on CD by Doghouse. It should be considered a Smorgasbord release.

This was a collaboration between me and Smorgasbord—read the credits on the lower right of the third JPG from the bottom—hence the funny shout out on the Rob R Rock song haha

  7. I remember laying this out old cut-and-paste style with halftones photos and sheets of type from this huge typesetting machine, while working in my old newspaper job. Jackson from Juvenocracy was with me when I did it I think. Straight From The Heart song = not soo good.

  11. Guav is right. This comp was a Smorgasboard release. Doghouse re-released it on cd much later. It should not be listed as a Doghouse release. I remember thinking the Rob R. Rock had to be a joke. Did he ever put out any thing else?

  14. @Buske @mckaig - tell me more about Juvenocracy. Who were they? Did they go on to be in any other bands in the 90's? I remember wanting to find out more about them but couldn't find a damn thing.

I still have this on vinly but it is in such shitty condition from playing it so much.

Straight From the Heart WTF? I thought they were more of a joke than Rob R Rock.

  15. Thanks so much for this, I love this comp.

The Outspoken track "Daydream" is one of my favorite tracks of all time. sounds so good on this album, way better than on "a light in the dark"

Great bands, great songs from a great fucking time in the scene.

  21. Hey Rob,

    http://b6.s3.quickshareit.com/photo585a4.jpg

Just in case you forgot, it's a Mouthpiece LS, a Burn LS and a Supertouch SS that I ordered. I know you're probably swamped with all those Naked Angels orders, but don't let me slip through the cracks for another 15 or so years, bud. Thanks.

  22. First of all -- whoever posted above as me above is a fucking poser. Always has been, always will be "R-Rock"... R is not my middle initial. If you're going to pretend to be someone, have the decency to spell their name correctly.

Secondly, Buske... hit me up at secretlifeofsound@yahoo.com and we can figure out what's up.

    Silly little bitches.
