Denied Reality was a deathmetal/hardcore band from Leipzig, Germany in the late 90s. Here's their 'Leviathan' MCD from 1999. This MCD version was released by the band themselves and distributed thru Cartel Distribution (out of Finland), whereas the 10" vinyl version was released by Voice Of Life Records, a German label, also in 1999. The band was pretty good, combining death metal and hardcore, with harsh screams, definitely not for the faint at heart. The band would also release a split 7" with As I Bleed, again on Voice Of Life Records, and appear on a few compilations including the 'Leipzig Hardcore' compilation CD which was released on Minefield Records in 1998. Members of the band would move on to a band called TrĂ¼e Deined. I don't know if they released anything under that name or if they're still around, it would seem they played shows under that name till at least a few years ago. Either way, enjoy this MCD.

Here's a release which was requested in the 'Requests and Reposts' box on the righthandside of this blog. Springwater was a German metalcore band and this MCD was released on Unsubmissive Records in 2000. This would be the last release on this label while using the name Unsubmissive Records, afterwards the label renamed itself Incendiary Records and continued under that name for a while. Before this MCD Springwater did a 3-way split 7" with Linsay and Deamon's Jaded Passion, and they also appeared on the 'Emotional Outburst Assisted By Technical Supply' compilation CD, both of which were also released on Unsubmissive/Incendiary Records. Springwater played metalcore in the vein of other German bands such as Caliban and Jane mixed with some H8000 influences. Members moved on to I Despise. Enjoy.

6 Ft. Underground was a short-lived German veggie/vegan hardcore band from the first half of the 90s. This self-titled 7" is the only record of theirs I'm aware of. It was released by the band members themselves in 1995. Pretty decent mix between old school/melodic hardcore and more 'new school' hardcore, including a 'Meat Free Youth' anthem. Members also played in a number of other bands such as Universal a.k.a. The Mental Toilet, Diavolo Rosso, Fear Is The Path To The Dark Side, Repugnant and Dead Beat.

Here's a 7" from 1999 featuring 2 quite different bands from Sweden and Germany. It was released on Pateline Industries, a label from Germany. I believe this was one of its final releases before the label folded.

Crowpath was a technical death metal/hardcore band from Sweden with a number of releases under their belt. This was their first release after they did a couple of demo's. The 2 songs here are some of their more straightforward material, relatively speaking that is. They since incorporated more death metal and grindcore influences into their songs and also became more technical, and ended up putting out records on labels such as Earache and Willowtip. Crowpath split up in 2009 or so but some of the members have a new band called Tellusian.

Drown In Frustration were more of a melodic rocking hardcore band with an emocore edge to them. Definitely good stuff as well, and it's cool the label put 2 quite different bands on this split. DIF had already done a 7" of their own, also on Pateline Industries, before this split 7" and would also release stuff afterwards. DIF went through some line-up changes and long periods of inactivity and eventually the remaining members changed the name to/started a new band called Man The Change and are still active under that name. Do check out Man The Change, it's good stuff.

The Crowpath side of this split would end up on the 'Old Cuts And Blunt Knives' CD from 2004 which collected their early vinyl output onto CD. I've ripped the original 7" tho.

After the Shaft/Jane split CD got posted on the awesome Mind Intrusion blog, I offered to rip him the 'Taskmaster' MCD from 1997. So here it is, 4 songs of great death metal/metalcore with lyrics emphasizing the atheist beliefs of singer Dirk Jochums. They took the Belgian H8000 sound (even recording in one of the more popular studios for H8000 bands to record at, Studio Midas) and adding death metal influences to it, slightly similar to Deformity. This might also be why they seemed way more popular in Belgium (especially the H8000 area) than in Germany. Besides this MCD and the aformentioned split CD with Jane they also released a very limited 7" on Stormstrike Records (200 copies total).

Members went on to bands such as Allgentle, Killcast and Still Screaming.

Another request. This time Deamon's Jaded Passion, a sXe chaotic & metallic hardcore/screamo band from Germany in the second half of the '90s. Starting out in 1995 as Reproach, they did a demo under that name. After changing their name to Deamon's Jaded Passion, they released the 'Elodea' MCD, a split 7" with Avarice, a 3-way split 7" and they also appeared on a number of compilations. They called in quits in 2000. Here's the aforementioned 'Elodea' MCD, released as a digipack in 1998 on Impression Recordings. Good & intense stuff. I have no idea what the members of DJP did before or after this band unfortunately.
