The next installment from my friend Adam's video vault is this full set from Turmoil at the Spin Cycle in Portland, OR on 4/5/99. I was actually out of town when this show happened, so I'm especially happy to be able to go back and see it now.

I recently got together with my old friend Adam to hang out for a few with our kids, and he handed me a stack of late 90s Portland videos that I didn't already have. Virtually any hardcore video you see from Portland between 1997 and 1999 was filmed by him.
Let's start with Trial and Avail at Stage 4 Theater on May 16th, 1998. I have no memory of the opening bands, but this show was pretty nuts during both Trial's and Avail's sets.

By now, I'm sure just about everyone has heard the Walter Sings The Hits version of Start Today, in which Walter Schreifles laid out some vocal tracks for Civ to get familiar with before he was to go in and track vocals himself. The rest of the story goes that Civ recorded this vocal track while Walter was on tour in Europe with Youth Of Today. Upon his return, Walter wasn't super into this more melodic take on the vocals, so Civ re-recorded them.
I worked with this as much as I could, but this rip clearly came from a 30th generation cassette, so don't expect to be bowled over by the sound quality, but it's still very listenable.

With the recent news that Bullet Tooth will be releasing a completely remastered Overcast discography soon, it seemed like an appropriate time to drag out an old tape to post. There aren't any details as to just how deep this discography package will delve, but hopefully it can help bring such a great band into the spotlight they've always deserved.
One studio demo pre-dates this live demo tape, but I have never actually seen or heard a copy, so I'm not even sure what tracks are on it. This demo was recorded on 2/15/92 at the Worcester Artist Group. Of the five songs on it, only one, Faceless, went on to be re-recorded for the Bleed Into One 7".

I've been on the hunt for video of this show for years, and last week, I finally acquired it through an old friend. With Falling Action, Backside Disaster, Crosstide and Stillmode, it's a great mix of late 90s hardcore and emo sounds. It took place at the Under 21 Club in Anderson, CA, which is just a bit outside of Redding on August 22nd, 1998.
