A full set of Indecision playing at Tramps in New York City on 11/1/98.  This is shortly after Artie joined the band on vocals, as the vocals for the 1998 demo tape were tracked a mere two months earlier.

I've spent way too much time going through my old cd's today, but luckily for you, that means a lot of downloads will be posted in the future. Definitely Not The Majors came out in 1997 from Bush League Records and is chalked full of great tracks. Any comp that starts off with Bloodlet and Coalesce is a winner in my book. This link was posted back in 2008, but for those of you that missed it, here it is again: Definitely Not The Majors: Click here for download

Obviously, this was announced a couple of weeks ago but sometimes it take a little bit to get things posted...after all, we are stuck in the past (har har). Anyway, in case you missed it, Judge is reuniting to play both shows (Saturday and Sunday), May 18th and 19th. The great thing is that both days have different lineups and feature a good variety of bands, new and old including Madball, Indecision, Crown Of Thornz, Black Train Jack and Take Offense.

Looks like tickets are sold out online but they will be selling a limited number of tickets at the door.

Here's the second (and I believe final) issue of x206x, which was done by Chris Jacobson (Wait In Vain) and Big Jake.  This came out sometime in late 1998, and has interviews with Trial, Indecision, Left With Nothing and Skarhead.  It's a fun zine, even though they completely butchered my last name in the Top 10 lists.

My friend, Tim, came over a couple of weeks ago with a handful of Indecision cassettes for me to convert to mp3.  For those that don't know, Indecision released quite a few tapes over the course of their tenure, so there are even more out there aside from these four that I'm going to post.  If anyone has some of the other tapes, and you'd like to send me dubs to convert, please get in touch!

Indecision - Three More Songs [Demo 95/96]

Indecision - Dashboard Icons [demo 1996]

 Indecision - Live!!! [10-31-97]

The following cassette contained a mixture of tracks from To Live And Die In New York City and Release The Cure, followed by two unreleased covers and five live songs.  I only converted the covers and live songs since all of the other tracks are readily available.

As you may recall, I remastered the Unorthodox cd a while ago, but the fine gentleman at Bitter Melody Records has taken it the extra mile by having the recording remastered from the master tapes and repressing it on vinyl.  He went the extra mile by producing two color versions and a 180gram black vinyl version with a screen printed cover.

They are all currently available for ordering over at the Bitter Melody page on Limited Pressing, and there is also a price discount when you order the 3-pack.

I received an email from Derek Morse letting me know that he and Rachel Rosen from Most Precious Blood have launched a record label and will release the vinyl version of the new MPB full length. Here's what they had to say:

Most Precious Blood - On Their Own Terms
MorseCode Recordings is a new record label based out of central NJ owned by Derek A Morse & Rachel Rosen from Most Precious Blood / Indecision / the Wage of Sin. Rachel and I started the label to give back to a music scene that saved the both of our lives. We also produce and release movies and as well as production for music videos for various bands done under MorseCodeProductions.com. We have several releases coming out in the next couple of months. Most Precious Blood – Do Not Resuscitate limited colored Vinyl will be out at the end of January. The May 4th Massacre - All Guilty debut full length is coming out in February. Demos from the band can be heard here: The May 4th Massacre. Members of May4th Massacre include the sons of Josh and Nate of Boy Sets Fire and are based out of Delaware. The long awaited Indecision Documentary DVD will be out in April. In the meantime, teasers for the documentary are posted on youtube.

We are also opening a recording studio with Chris Ross (Torchbearer / Nora) & Chris Pierce - (Doc Hopper / Deadguy) who has manned the controls for such projects as The Ergs!, East West Blast Test, Isuki and Gridlink on Hydrahead records, the remastering of the Rorschach albums, and various other project over the last 14 years of Pierce's recording career. The studio will be located in Rahway, NJ and open in the next two months. We also have CD/DVD duplication capabilities that can handle any size run.
Derek commented “ owning a studio has been a dream of mine since I was young and held my first record.” Rachel also owns Caninus Collars (http://www.caninuscollars.com) in association with Caninus, the pitbull fronted grindcore band and side project of Most Precious Blood.
It's time that people who have been playing in bands in the HC scene for a long time to take control back of things here in NJ.

Originally released only on CD by Trustkill Records in 2005, Most Precious Blood's "Merciless" full length will finally be seeing the vinyl treatment via Bitter Melody Records. With a limited pressing of 500 copies, some of the more limited colors already seem to going quickly from their Limited Pressing webstore. You can check out their webstore here, and pick up a copy, or even a three pack with all of the limited colors.
On another note, does anyone think that the "Do Not Resuscitate" album that Most Precious Blood recorded quite a while ago will ever actually see the light of day?

A few months ago, I was having a conversation with Tom Sheehan, and he mentioned off hand that Indecision's "Unorthodox" record was never actually mastered, and neither were any of the Indecision recordings prior to it. They were all young, and a bit naive at the time, so they just didn't understand the advantages of mastering a recording. According to Tom, Ron Thal even asked them if they wanted to master it, but they turned down the service, because they didn't think it was necessary. Although Unorthodox is a great record, I'm sure you may have noticed over the years that you really have to crank the living shit out of it to get some decent volume. I chose to give the record a bit of a mastering treatment myself. The lineage of it all went a little something like this:
Unorthodox cd -> 44khz wav -> Adobe Audition 3.0 Mastering Suite ->
WAVs burned to CDR -> Exact Audio Copy v0 vbr mp3s
I think it came out sounding nice. You no longer have to exhaust your stereos volume dial get it loud, and some of the tones have better clarity now. Even though the album was never mastered in the first place, I've labeled it as 'remaster' just so everyone can easily separate it from the original.

Lately, I've been noticing some confusion and debate on the internet over whether Indecision was a straight edge band or not. I always thought it was common knowledge that weren't a straight edge band, but that they simply contained a couple of members that didn't shy away from being vocal about being straight edge.
The confusion stretches back as far as Indecision's first 7", which contained a straight edge song called "Loyal". Not only that, but the confusion goes a layer deeper with a flyer ad that was floating around for the 7" in which the band was labeled as "vegan moshcore".

Indecision was not a vegan band. Only two of the four tracks from that first 7" made it onto the "A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall" cd that compiled Indecision's early releases, so I went ahead and ripped the entire 7".

Later, some confusion also could have arisen from the A side center label, which was a picture of someone in a straight edge letterman's jacket.

The vinyl version of Unorthodox featured two live songs that never got released anywhere else, so I've also ripped and uploaded them. They were recorded at the cd release show for Unorthodox on January 12th, 1997 at The Joint in Staten Island where they played with Silent Majority, Milhouse, and CR.

I also went ahead and asked Indecision's singer, Tom Sheehan, a few questions about this whole matter.
SITP: Which members of Indecision were actually straight edge?
Tom: Me and Justin.
SITP: Did the other members ever object to the few songs that were about straight edge?
Tom: Not at all. They didn't really have anything to do with it.
SITP: Since a lot of people will take a band's lyrics to be representative of every member in the band, there was never a concern on their part that they would be considered straight edge even though they weren't?
Tom: Not really. We didn't have many overtly straight edge songs.
SITP: It almost seemed like the A/B side center labels of Unorthodox could be representative of both sides of the band (the straight edge letterman jacket/Sid & Nancy), but it seems like a lot of people simply took the A side label and ran with the idea of you guys as a straight edge band.
Tom: Yeah, I never realized that. I don't think it was done intentionally.
SITP: This just seems like one of those things where it wasn't a big deal to you guys at all, but as usual, hardcore kids have taken it and made it a question/concern.
Tom: Absolutely. We were just a bunch of friends from high school that started a band together. Some were edge, some weren't. It wasn't a big deal to us at all.
SITP: Do you think you guys added to the confusion at all by dedicating the first MPB record to the straight edge?
Tom: At that point we were 4/5ths edge. Just Rachel wasn't. Me, Justin, Matt, and Sean were all edge then.
SITP: Vegan moshcore?
Tom: I have no idea where that came from.

Hopefully this can end the confusion over Indecision being a straight edge band or not. On an endnote, Tom Sheehan - still straight edge. Good dude, backed hard.

Exit Records released a slew of incredible records in the mid-late 90s, and Sons Of Abraham's "Termites In His Smile" is surely no exception. The double bass and crazy lead guitar work always made me want to lose my shit. To top it off, this was an all Jewish band, as can be heard in lyrics like "no presents for Christmas...". Throughout their brief time together, Sons Of Abraham only recorded a demo, a split 7" with Indecision, and this LP. I've never come across the demo (if you have one, please get at me!), but the track on the split 7" was re-recorded for Termites. They were scheduled to do a split 7" with Morning Again on Immigrant Sun, but they broke up before ever recording, and that resulted in Morning Again's "To Die A Bitter Death" 7" coming out on its own. Some of you may also be interested to know that Sons Of Abraham contained some members of Glassjaw, but it's rather inconsequential, because Sons Of Abraham were a thousand times better.
I also own a copy of this on a great looking blue marble vinyl. However, I was too lazy to take a photo of it, so I just stole the following image from Limited Pressing. His obsession with mid 90s vinyl outdoes even my own, and I'm thoroughly jealous of his Sons Of Abraham and Indecision collections.
He also figured out that the marbling actually never should have happened, and is the result of not switching plates after they pressed the Milhouse "Obscenity In The Milk" record on white. A large portion of the SOA records should be on more of a see through blue/green. He even made a short video about it, and you can check it out here: Termites explained.
