One of my current favorite bands, Eye of Judgement (which also includes one of my favorite dudes, Jasper), is releasing their new record with Catalyst Records. Pre-orders just went up and include the CD, a limited edition t-shirt that will only be availble through this package, and another Catalyst release. You get all this for only $16. You can pre-order this package here.

The new band from Steven Miller, formerly of Unbroken and Kill Holiday, continues in the direction that Kill Holiday was heading but adds a little more aggression. The band also features Marc Jackson who did time in Throwdown, Wrench and Cold War. The demo is definitely worth a download and you can you do so on their Myspace page. Be on the lookout for more info.

Dirty Black Summer is an Orange County, California based Danzig tribute band with a twist – the singer is a charismatic Asian female who goes by the name Christine Doanzig (real name – Christine Doan). You’re probably wondering why the hell I’m doing a post about a Danzig tribute band on a webzine devoted to ‘90s hardcore, right? Well, this particular tribute band contains members of some seminal ‘90s hardcore bands. Ms. Doan was the singer and frontwoman in Palefire, bassist “Eerie” Von Colin Buis is formerly (or currently, as the case may be) of Mean Season and guitarist Dirty Black Dan Palmer has spent the past 10 years playing lead guitar in Death By Stereo. According to Dirty Black Summer’s Myspace, they play mostly songs off of the first 4 Danzig albums with some “necessary” Misfits and Samhain thrown in for good measure. They’ve been playing quite a few shows in and around Southern California recently, so check ‘em out if you’re in town or live nearby.

Here's an interview I found that was printed in Counter Theory based out of South Florida. This was conducted in 1999 while out supporting their full length release on Revelation Records.

don’t need you – the herstory of riot grrrl is a comprehensive documentary on the Riot Grrrl movement of the ‘90s which spawned such groundbreaking bands as Bikini Kill, Sleater-Kinney, Bratmobile, Huggy Bear, etc. and is responsible for empowering young women all over the world to do their own bands, zines, record labels, distros, show booking, etc. Director Kerri Koch has done an excellent job combining both archival ‘90s footage and photos with recent interviews with many of the principals of the Riot Grrrl movement, including Kathleen Hanna, Corin Tucker, Allison Wolfe, Madigan Shive and Ian MacKaye, the de facto “godfather” (for lack of a better word) of the movement. Jeff Caudill, who fronted the very popular Southern California pop punk band Gameface throughout the ‘90s (they eventually disbanded in 2003), possesses a work ethic that would make Gene "I'll sleep when I'm dead" Simmons envious. He is currently a member of no less than 4 bands, including his own Jeff Caudill & The Goodtimes Band, and is just as active (if not more so) in the underground music scene as a married with child homeowner today as he was as a teenager in the mid/late ‘80s. Stay tuned for a detailed write-up on Your Favorite Trainwreck, Jeff’s collaboration with former Farside frontman Michael “Popeye V” Vogelsang. In the meantime, check out Jeff’s solo stuff with The Goodtimes Band (also featuring Popeye on guitar and backing vocals) as well as his other bands Floormodel and Black Rattle by clicking on the links below.

On May 6, 2009, a kind, anonymous reader (possible by the name of ohwellmonkey?) posted a download link via a comment for Disembodied's set on 4/25/09 in Minnesota. I cannot locate it on my computer anymore, and I'm desperately hoping for a re-up. Please and thank you!
