Starkweather have always seemed to be one of those bands that polarize people. It's either love or hate, and not much much middle ground. Well, I for one, love Starkweather. Their songs are heavy, punishing, eerie, and often times, manic. Rennie is a true lyricist, and that can't be said of many people that write songs within the realm of hardcore/metal. He knows how to finely craft his words into a story fit for music. Starkweather are still together, and are currently working on a new record, so keep up to date on them here: www.myspace.com/starkweather666. In the meantime, here's their long out of print, debut full length from 1994.

good post justin this band deserves every bit of recognition
Agreed. A+
i keep meaning to post the "philly dust crew" comp that they had three of their songs on...amazing stuff in my opinion. they are releasing all of their back catalog on a 2 disc set sometime soon. from what i have been told by the singer is that the artwork has been a major setback to the release. they also have a new record recorded.
cant wait.
Without this band there would be no converge.
Were they from Philly? I thought they were from out here in the northwest.
Nah they're from philly.
Rybunal, please post that Philly Dust Crew comp. I never acquired a copy, and have been dying to hear those songs for years.
Also, go back to my Hourglass post on x43x if you haven't lately. One of the dudes from Hourglass posted that he'd be able to hook everything up for a discography release.
Would you be Dave Agranoff from Bloomington?
yo heres philly dust krew

Have you heard Croatoan? Did I spell that right? Starkweather came out with a heavy fucking album. So good.
xjustinx... i saw the hourglass post and i talked to him. there is just the demo 7inch and split. i havet really gotten into a discussion about a release. i have NO funds to do so, but i have been trying to find a way to make it happen...i have also been talng to some of the guys from AUTUMN (pa emo/screamo/hxc) about a discography...i hope i can do something...
people always hype starkweather but when they played philadelphia a couple weeks ago maybe 20 people showed up to see them. they played bitter frost, 1 song from croatoan, and 3 or 4 new songs. it was a good night.
Putting out this LP is one of my prouder label moments!
