One Step Ahead - Remission 7" single and Breaking The Silence 12" EP [1991 - Nemesis Records]

Good early '90s Southern California melodic hardcore. Not readily available online, so I thought I'd do a post for it on here. Enjoy.

Thanx for this, I have both records, but it's nice to have them in mp3 versions. They sound like Verbal Assault to me, and I was looking for that style for some time, but couldn't find much bands.

First heard this band when they opened for the amazing Reason To Beleive at the Toe Jam in Long Beach. Clean, yet crunchy hardcore with well-written changes, which at the time was rare. 15 years later I moved to Long Beach and befriend singer/guitar player/ songwriter George Navarro, who is now fronting a new band called the Alleged Gunmen with fellow on step aheader Paul Martin on bass. I end up being their roadie/ driver for a short tour to SXSW. I will never forget that, though I still kick myself for not getting it on tape. Amazing times. George and Paul now are in Golddiggers. Paul and George also played in band called Arrow Down. George also had played bass in Bad Parents and Paul in Discipline. All these projects continue to happen in Long Beach, releases have mostly been put out by the bands themselves.

if you're looking for the genuine article, there's a very rare copy of the One Step Ahead single, 'Remission' original pressing on white vinyl, available on ebay
