I was going through a pile of old VHS tapes the other day, and I came across this quick set of Another Victim playing at YMCAin Arlington Heights, IL on 12/19/98.

I remember driving up to this show in Seattle, as there was no Oregon date booked for the tour. Definitely not a bad way to kick off 2003.

One thing that was always interesting in the 90s was how often various tours always collided in cities across America. This often resulted in shows with 8 - 12 bands on one bill, but they were never intended to be all day fests. This show on 8/9/98 at the Fireside Bowl in Chicago is one of those situations. Ten bands played that day, but the video I have only contains fives of them: Extinction, Shai Hulud, Trial, Harvest and Ten Yard Fight.

Here's a full set of Undertow at Nappy Dugout in Vanvouver, BC back on 12/13/92. Once again, filmed by Ron Guardipee with his hi8 camera.
After converting the video, I remembered seeing some pictures from this very show on DCXX a couple of years ago, and they had sourced these from Tom Holcomb.
Edit: I was also just informed that the cover photo for the Stalemate 7" was also taken at this show, and some outtakes can be found on the website of Dave Larson's great podcast, Nobody's Nose.

I recently got together with my old friend Adam to hang out for a few with our kids, and he handed me a stack of late 90s Portland videos that I didn't already have. Virtually any hardcore video you see from Portland between 1997 and 1999 was filmed by him.
Let's start with Trial and Avail at Stage 4 Theater on May 16th, 1998. I have no memory of the opening bands, but this show was pretty nuts during both Trial's and Avail's sets.

I've been on the hunt for video of this show for years, and last week, I finally acquired it through an old friend. With Falling Action, Backside Disaster, Crosstide and Stillmode, it's a great mix of late 90s hardcore and emo sounds. It took place at the Under 21 Club in Anderson, CA, which is just a bit outside of Redding on August 22nd, 1998.

In 1996, Life Sentence Records had a showcase for the label at Showcase Theater in Corona, CA. I transferred everything that was on a VHS that I have, but some of the sets are definitely incomplete. If anyone out there has video of the full sets, please get in touch.

This was the first time that Cursed played in Portland. The Dead Unknown went and did all of the Northwest dates with them and Breather Resist. It was a great few days in all possible regards.
The audio gets a little janky at times, but if you ever saw Cursed play life, you should know that's just because they played so damn loud that they were undoubtedly overloading the camera's mic.

From the same show as the XCLEARX set that I uploaded a little while back, here's Triphammer playing the Stage 4 Theater in Portland, OR on 4/4/98. I only got to see them twice, but they were always great, and the singer's nose gushed blood from the time he opened his mouth to scream at both shows.
