Here's another gem from the DAT archive of releases that were scheduled to come out on Overkill Records.
Bowel featured the Melnicks, Tony Pines and Mean Steve. I would say that it can be best described as the Melnick's tongue-in-cheek take on early 90's death metal/grindcore with some excellent mid-paced stomp parts thrown in as well.
After Overkill Records folded, Rotten Fecal Duct was released on Dark Empire Records as an 8 track cd that also had an unreleased record from The Guns tacked on at the end. An interesting bit to note here is that this DAT tape contains 8 tracks, but only lists 6 in the handwritten notes. Combine that with the 2 minutes of silence prior to tracks 7/8, and I'm lead to believe that McDonalds Massacre and Enema Abortion were originally intended to be hidden tracks on the Overkill release, as opposed to the regularly listed tracks they became on the Dark Empire version.
With all that said, here's Bowel - Rotten Fecal Duct remastered from the master DAT tape.

Looking back, the early days of Harkonen seems like a wild ride. Although they became well known as a three piece associated with Hydra Head Records, between 1996 and 1999, Harkonen had a multitude of lineup changes that saw various singers and guitar players come and go. Due to familial relations, this was also the period of time where it wasn't uncommon to hear someone refer to Harkonen as "baby Botch".
Recorded in October of 1996 at Uptone Studios, this demo isn't really lacking anything in the sound department, and is a great representation of Harkonen at their earliest.

Our friends in 7 Generations have just released their final EP. This was recorded just before the band broke up but never saw the light of day. The EP will be available today (December 21, 2013) at 12 noon PST. Here's what the band had to say regarding the EP:
"Dear friends
Over the course of our final year as a band, we had recoded some songs that were never released. As of December 2013 they will be available as a digital download for a $1 or up donation to One Hundred for Haiti. If the alleviation of the suffering of the Haitian people since the 2010 earthquake is something you would like to contribute to, or if you would be interested in our unreleased ep, please do consider making a donation on the 21st. Thank you very much.
"Hate on and love through unrepining hours"
The band then follow up their first post with this just moments ago:
"Hello friends,
Just a reminder that today at 12:00 noon (west coast US time) 7 Generations' heretofore unreleased ep "Love Through Unrepining Hours" will be available for download for a $1 or up donation to One Hundred for Haiti. Donations can be made at sevengenerations.bandcamp.com
Thank you."
Again, the EP will be available today (December 21, 2013) at 12 Noon PST. We're looking forward to hearing the EP and I'll be donating to this great cause...hope you will too.

Now that we're all aware that the Systems Overload lineup of Integrity are playing the A389 Records bash in January, some more great news has come to light in the form of a new track recorded by said lineup.
A snippet of Beyond The Realm Of The VVitch can now be heard on the A389 bandcamp page, and a one sided 7" will be released in time for the bash with a skull etched b-side.

As was reported today on Lambgoat, a new Earth Crisis record will surface next year on Candlelight Records. Here's the details.
Candlelight Records today confirms March 3rd for
Europe and March 4th as the North American release date for Salvation of
Innocents, the label debut from hardcore/metal pioneers Earth Crisis. Mixed by Zeuss
(Agnostic Front, Terror, Hatebreed), the album and its lead single,
"The Morbid Glare," will be available for preorder via iTunes and other
digital platforms beginning January 20th/21st.
Salvation of Innocents features twelve new tracks from the Syracuse-formed band. Production of the bold concept album offered the respected five-piece an extraordinary recording experience. Guitarist Scott Crouse shares, "The process for this album was new for us. We did most of it ourselves. The absence of pressure having to get things done by a certain time each day really gave us the freedom to try new ideas and critically listen to the songs. From the music, to the lyrical concept, to the comic book that brings the lyrics to life, we think we've created something pretty unique."
The comic book Crouse mentions is the pairing of Earth Crisis with Black Mask Studios' Liberator comic. The hard-edged vigilante series will release its fifth edition simultaneously with the release of Salvation. The Matt Miner created comic brings its main character and the Salvation of the Innocents' vivisection concept together in a commanding graphic landscape. Black Mask Studios co-founder Matt Pizzolo says, "It is crazy to me that it took twenty years for comics to produce a set of animal-minded vigilantes strong enough to roll with Earth Crisis. It is probably the most perfectly aligned superhero team-up ever."
Salvation of Innocents and Liberator will share original cover art from Chicago-based illustrator/painter Menton3. The comic will feature additional works by illustrators Rod Reis, Javier Aranda, and Joaquin Pereyra. Liberator creator Matt Miner says, "Working with Earth Crisis on the comic book side of Salvation of Innocents has been a dream project for me. Our styles, ethics, and ideologies are a fitting match and I'm super excited for folks to read the story."

Fans pre-ordering Salvation of Innocents via iTunes will receive "The
Morbid Glare," as an immediate download as part of the digital outlet's
Instant Grab Track promotion. Preordering will begin 24-hours prior to a
special Lambgoat.com world premiere of the album track
"De-Desensitize," set for January 22nd. "Lambgoat is thrilled to be
premiering a new Earth Crisis track," proclaims editor Alex Arnold. "EC
fans all over the world know what to expect from this reliable band, and
they most certainly won't be let down."
Talking candidly about the album's single, Crouse details, "'The Morbid Glare' is a song that really challenged most of the band members mainly since it's the fastest tempo we've ever written at. Ian [Edwards, bassist] wrote the majority of the song, and we all had a common goal of trying new things on this record. This is certainly new territory for us. Working at this speed was uncomfortable at times" he says, "but we think the song really came out great in the end."
No hardcore or metal fan can be unaware of Earth Crisis or the contributions the band has made to heavy music since their founding in 1989. Regardless of passing trends, the band has maintained their vision, dedication to their craft (and causes), and most importantly respected their fans. Media giants CNN, CBS, and MTV have applauded the straightedge, vegan band that to date has released seven full-length albums, two EPs, and two live albums, their most recent, 2011's Neutralize the Threat (Century Media).
Earth Crisis will kick off 2014 with a performance at the Tough Love Festival in Seattle. Set for February 15th, the third annual festival will take place at Studio 7 located at 110 S. Horton Street. Follow the festival's official Facebook page for ticket details.
