I received this 7 inch in the mail today and was pleasantly surprised with what I heard. First off the band released this themselves and did an overall great job. The layout depicts numerous figures in hooded sweaters and ski masks throwing what looks like bombs or rocks all on a nice full color cover. The music reminds me of Brother's Keeper in that when BK was an active band they referred to themselves as "No School Hardcore". They didn't fit in...

In wake of the new Earth Crisis song being uploaded to their Myspace, we are going to take a look at some of the rare tshirts the band has printed and sold over the years. The first design, printed by Conviction Records. The same design as the cover of 7 inch released by Conviction Records, also note the original logo.Chain of Strength rip off design. This was printed right around the time of Destroy The MachinesDestroy The Machines record release....

I completely forgot I uploaded this a few weeks ago. This is a FULL live set of Earth Crisis playing at the Lost Horizon in Syracuse on July 24, 1994. This was on the tour they did before Destroy the Machines came out. They play songs that would eventually be on that record but this was before the record came out. I actually have the shirt from that tour (yeah Im THAT guy) so you can confirm the date (thank you Grant J).Click the link to see the...

I have virtually zero information about this band. This cd came to me via my old friend Sam, who was running a music and straight edge shirt distro out of Spokane, WA. He was folding operations, so he sent me a large box with all kinds of stuff, and in it was this Moment of Truth cd. I've often tried to track down information about them over the years, but I've always come up empty handed. The contact info places them in Fairport, NY, which is...

108 is definitely one of the 90s bands that has gotten back together and just blown everyone away. Since they reunited in 2005, they've released a 10 song EP and a full length on Deathwish Inc. You'd think that a band that getting back together after not having played together in almost 10 years would have lost a step...not 108. Their recent releases are just laying to waste everyone and everything in their path. They will be performing at the Burning...

This was the first offering I heard from Long Island's Vision of Disorder (or V.O.D.). While some may say that the self titled (sometimes called Element or the Green Drop record), this to me is their best offering. Seriously raw and in your face, not too produced but just enough to sound professional without losing its ferocity. I prefer the version of "DTO" on this to the re-recorded one on the self-titled. They really were doing something different...

So I noticed no one had voted for Fadeaway yet on the Scott Vogel poll and I figured this might be because no one remembers them. Well here is their self titled release on Conquer The World Records, long out of print. This Buffalo band featured Vogel on drums and Frank from Snapcase on guitar. Good chug hardcore from 1993. After going back and listening to it for the first time in a long time, I really hear a lot of Strife in there. Contemporaries...

Our last poll closed with Greg Bennick of Trial taking the top spot. Please bear in mind we will be doing 3-4 more polls for the best frontman of the 90s and then the winners will have a poll to determine the best. Look for that in coming weeks. To switch gears a bit, our next poll is the Best Scott Vogel Band. Unless you've lived under a rock for the past 15 years, you know who Scott Vogel is. Easily one of the best frontmen in the business, he also played drums in Fadeaway early on. Let us hear what you think you. Vot...

Here's another soundboard recording of Chokehold in New Bedford, MA. This one comes from New Year's Day 1994, and features a great setlist. Prison Of Hope was already out, but the Instilled 7" hadn't been recorded yet. It's awesome to hear versions of songs that would later become classic staples of Chokehold.Chokehold - 1/1/94 New Bedford, MA [soundboard]http://www.mediafire.com/?zkyjqmrm...

Again, coming through like a champ, xYosefx sent me an interview he conducted with Brian D. of Catharsis/Requiem/Inside Front zine fame. This one again did not get placed into a zine like it should have been but here it is in all its glory. Huge thanks again to xYosefx for helping us out yet again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Interview with Brian D. Finally, after waiting so long, Earth Crisis has upped a new song from their upcoming album "To The Death". The song is called "To Ashes" and can be heard on their Myspace. The record unfortunatly has been pushed back to May 5th for us in the US but from the sound of the new song, its gonna be worth the wait.Earth Crisis - To As...

I just recieved an email from Jose Saxlund, former vocalist of Abhinanda, who informed me that he has a started a new band called Soundtrack For Violence. The band also features members of Better Than a Thousand and Shelter. No songs has been posted yet and only a splash page is available, I am super pumped that he is playing music again. I asked Jose if he would be interested in giving us a history of Abhinanda and Desperate Fight Records, now Im...

We got such a great response to the "Current Bands Playing 90s Style Hardcore" thread that I decided to do a part 2. I plan to continue doing these so if you have a band or know a band that should be mentioned here, shoot us an email at xstuckinthepastx@gmail.comLoyal To The Grave - Tokyo, JapanLoyal to the Grave is a band that I love and respect with all my heart. Just a quick heads up to let you know the Another Victim preorders HAVE shipped. I got mine in the mail today and it was seriously worth the wait. It sounds great and the double CD is packaged in a really nice fold out digi-pack. Lyrics are included in the insert as well as technical info as to which songs came out on which release. Pretty sure you still get both the double CD (which includes a live set from 2000) and a tshirt for only $20. Head...

In the mid 90's, Umea Sweden became a hotbed for straight edge hardcore. They just started pumping out bands let and right...and the amazing thing was: most of them were really good. The first 2 as far as I know to gain some sort of recognition were Abhinanda and Refused. Both of these bands (especially Refused) left a big impression on the world of hardcore at the time as the floodgates opened causing new bands to emerge. Umea Sweden became THE...
